So Much More

I stood at the window,
looking out into the cove.
a quiet place of beauty,
a thin place,
where heaven brushed the edges of the earth,
and my heart grew still.
Gentle waves kissed the rocks,
dolphins danced in circles,
and for a moment it felt complete.
this wonder, this nearness….
But past it all, past what my eyes could hold,
a voice rose soft as the tide:
There is so much more.
I saw something I had not seen before,
a widening beyond the cove,
a vastness calling me past the familiar.
The scaffolds that the world has known,
from the need to measure and contain,
they shrink and crumble.
All the names we have given safety,
all the walls we have called wisdom,
for the one whom waits
can not be housed in what is small.
This Love moves where no map has reached.
I felt the pull,
to loosen my grip on what I have known.
Only in Him,
do the depths come into view.
Only in Him,
does the horizon unfold into endless beginnings.
The ocean is so big,
we have not even begun
to see what is hidden beneath its surface.
The unknown is not a threat;
it is an invitation,
an invitation to the wonderful,
to beauty deeper,
to freedom wilder,
to Love with no shore.
Past the rocks, past the safe and seen,
The voice whispers:
There is so much more.
And as I gaze from the window
into the mystery beyond,
my heart answers softly:
Yes.
